The Chain Gang – Plans For 2013

Our Plans For 2013

We’ve now finalised and published our programme for 2013. No new tours this year, but plenty of changes to four of our existing tours to make them even better. (By the way, click on any of these photos to enlarge them – especially the photo of the Basilica in Saint Denis, because it’s stunning)

Paris and Normandy

We introduced two new tours in 2012 – Paris and Normandy – and I’ve written about those tours in more detail elsewhere. Suffice to say I thought they were fantastic, and if I’m brutally honest with myself, Normandy was the better tour.

There’s always a question mark that hangs over a new tour before we’ve run it properly – I’m always reminded of Wellington’s observation that no plan survives first contact with the enemy. (The enemy are the locals, restaurant and hotel owners – not our customers!)

But now that we’ve run both Paris and Normandy tours successfully I feel more of a sense of ownership. They’re real, they belong in our programme and I’m very proud of them.

Tuscany and Umbria

But the main changes will be in Italy. I spent a lot of 2012 trying to learn Italian so that I could take better control of our Italian tours in Tuscany and Umbria, and spent much of September and October in Italy realising how little Italian I’d managed to learn.

That task carries on, but I have made some changes to both our Tuscany and Umbria trips. They will be both be better tours as a result, so I’m looking forward to showcasing those tours starting next May and June.

New Website

We’re also in the process of building an all-new website, which will hopefully be in place before January.

The most interesting thing for you is that there will be lots of photographs from Chris Yates, Patrick Hudgell and Roberto Peixoto.
There will hopefully be photos from lots of other Chain Gangers too, but these three are much better photographers than me, so they are a great place to start.

That’s all in the near future, but for now here are our dates and prices for next year.

And here’s where you book!
