The Chain Gang specialises in bike tours in France and Italy.
All of our tours are in beautiful regions, and wherever we’re cycling we make sure we explore the best of the local scenery, as well as the best of the history and the cuisine of the region.
The Chain Gang was established in 1997, and the relationships we’ve developed with our hotel and restaurant partners mean that you’ll be looked after whichever tour you choose. All you have to do is remember to enjoy your cycling!
Our guided tours have a maximum size of 15 people. Our guides take all the worry out of your cycling – there for any mechanical problems and punctures, but also experts in the best of local food specialities, and where to enjoy them. Exploring somewhere new with a small group of fellow-cyclists is special, and above all our guided group tours are terrific fun. Choose a guided tour if you want to laugh all week – or if you’re a bit worried about your map-reading skills.
Most of our French tours are also available as self-guided tours. The advantage is that you can choose your departure date, and cycle at your own pace. We’ll still make sure you have a good bike set up for you, and all the equipment to keep your show on the road.
A downside to self-guided tours, often, is that you arrive at hotels and restaurants as strangers. We work with the same partners as on our guided tours, we’ve known these people for years, these hotel and restaurant owners are our friends – you’ll be taken care of.
