We’ve finally taken the plunge and offer online booking on The Chain Gang website. 
Why did I take so long? Well, most of our holidays are sold some time in advance, so we take a small deposit payment and the balance is collected sometimes months later.
It’s not possible to take credit card details via a reputable online payment provider and store the details for later use, so we would have to take an online booking for the deposit, and then contact our customers close to departure and either take payment details or ask them to logon again and pay the balance.
In the past I’ve taken the view that this is slightly less friendly than having the booking forms and just asking for permission when the time arises. It meant our customers didn’t have to do anything except say “Yes” (hopefully!).
But last year, Joyce Nariyoshi explained that she and her husband Steven had booked their 2nd Chain Gang tour through one of our agents because she just wanted to do it all online. I thought the time had come when it looked a bit weird not to offer the online option.
It’s now live, as a direct result of Joyce’s comments. Proof that very occasionally I listen! Thanks Joyce.
