An Amazing, And Fun, Cycling Video

There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing various bike stunts, but I’d like to tell you about a couple of my favourites, before you click on the embedded video below.

1. The Vélibs in Paris. Some comedians-cum-stunt riders have taken the Vélib Paris bikes and filmed themselves doing stunts. I love the Vélibs, as regular readers will know, but they do weigh a whopping 22Kg (49lbs). The very idea of doing wheelies on a bike I can hardly lift always makes me laugh, and I enjoy watching these videos .

2. Andrei Burton. He’s a local freestyle rider who has finished as high as 6th in the world championships. He does lots of shows at schools in Exeter and Devon, so I’ve seen him a few times. He’s a really nice guy, fantastic with children, and it’s always nicer watching someone you know. But I hope you will enjoy watching Andrei too.

There’s a great video of him and his team on their homepage (click on the link and scroll to the bottom of the page). You’ll also find a little video on the Chain Gang YouTube channel , an early effort by yours truly. Follow Andrei and his team on Twitter at @ABEVENTS.

But now to the main event (embedded above). A fantastic video, a rider called Martyn Ashton who tackles some stunts similar to Andrei’s, but on a £10,000 Pinarello carbon road bike, as ridden by Team Sky in the Tour de France. You might recognise some London landmarks, maybe even the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway in North Devon. But just enjoy it, it’s a terrific video.
